Since this was our first building experience, we thought we knew what to expect, but got more than we expected. For a while, we lost sight of what is really important when building a new home. “It’s not how much trouble you have or the minor/major problems you incur during the construction, but the commitment and dedication of the Construction Manager and the company to follow through and build a quality home to the customer’s satisfaction without wavering in anyway.” This last statement truly depicts the Construction Manager and Hallmark Homes, Inc. In the spring of 1994, I contracted with Hallmark Homes to build a 1 1/2 story Cape Cod style house that I designed. Although there were some glitches during the construction process which was to be expected for a custom built house, the overall process went very well and the house was completed on schedule. I have received several compliments not only on the overall appearance of the house, but also the quality craftsmanship throughout. During the first year of ownership I experienced a few minor problems, each of which were handled in a quick and professional manner by the Hallmark Homes staff.
Overall, my experience with Hallmark Homes has been a good one and I would without hesitation, recommend Hallmark Homes to anyone interested in building a quality house at a reasonable price.

This is just a big “Thank You” for being such great friends during the construction of our home last year. This was to be our third home to build, and due to prior experiences, we were a bit hesitant. But from the minute we walked through the door of the model home, met with the sales agent and then decided to have you become the builder, there was never any pressure of any kind. Instead, you were very helpful and informative and treated us like family – not just “another customer”.
When the construction began, this friendliness continued. Our field manager was very thorough and the quality of work and materials was outstanding. If we had a question about anything, he was only a phone call away and returned our call within 30 minutes.
Now that we’ve been in our home for over a year, the kindness and dedication has continued. Hallmark’s warranty follow-up last week was handled with true professionalism, even though we only had one minor repair. They scheduled a repair time that was convenient to us. When asked to show our home to potential customers, it is a pleasure. We feel that we could be salespeople for Hallmark!!

Our questions or concerns were always addressed within 24 hours and everything was completed as planned and on schedule. Four or five years ago, we only dreamed of owning a home like the one we now occupy. We have been in our Hallmark Home now for three and a half years, and we believe that we were able to get more square footage for our money with Hallmark, without compromising quality. This was our first building experience and aside from the expected stress with building a new home, it was an exciting process. We took pictures and made special memories along the way.
Hallmark has excellent follow up services as demonstrated by their Warranty Department. Whenever we have had the need for repairs or assistance, the Warranty Manager and his team have been quick to respond. I believe this to be unique, as compared to other builders! I have friends and neighbors with different builders who have never experienced such service.

We had purchased our last home over ten years ago and since it was going to be a spec house, much of it was already completed when we got involved. In addition, we had heard the horror stories of people who had been there, done that and even know of a couple that, in fact, made each of their attorneys wealthy – if you know what I mean.
Once we got the fever, we never looked back and the house design began to come together when we hooked up with the sales consultant. She is now a friend and a neighbor. If she charged by the phone call I would now owe her over $7,000,000. Well, maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but the point is she has been great and I have been introduced to some good folks who seem committed to build a quality and affordable home; just like the literature says!
With the Construction Manager’s suggestions and ideas, we think we have a Cape Cod that will be a showcase that Hallmark can be truly proud of. The Field Manager and Construction Manager were great to work with and the President phoned in to check up on the progress earlier today. What more could I ask; people trying to do their best.
We are excited to recommend Hallmark to our friends and even step up to another Hallmark built home before the sales consultant has a chance to visit us in a local nursing home.

Once upon a time in a very small house lived a family of four, the Rodecaps’. This family loved each other very much, but wished they could have a bigger, better home to live in. The Rodecaps’ started their quest to find the perfect home. They searched villages far and near for the right people to build their home. They toured many lovely castles, but found they were too expansive (and expensive) for their taste. They also toured homes that were nice, but not what they were looking for.
One sunny day, the Rodecaps’ entered a Hallmark Home. From the moment they entered the model, the family knew they were at home. Mother Rodecap pictured herself in the lovely kitchen preparing a feast for her family. Father Rodecap was impressed by the quality of products used in the construction. The children were excited at the thought of having such large rooms! They spoke with a wonderful salesperson and, after thinking about it, they decided to build their “dream home”. They decided on the Kingsport plan. It offered everything a family could need. Four bedrooms, two baths and lots of closet space. Hallmark helped the Rodecaps’ find financing and they were on their way!
Now they have a home that they are proud to live in. They entertain more, and enjoy it! Hallmark Homes has even showed other people their home, and the Rodecap family is always happy to tell people about their experience. This is truly a story that ends happily ever after!

In 1992 I contacted Hallmark Homes to build my first house because of their competitive pricing. After studying their building specifications, I found their homes were constructed to state code. I was impressed with their full brick exterior. Working with their sales team I found it to be a very comfortable experience from start to finish. All aspects of the construction were thorough. Warranty issues were followed thoroughly until I was satisfied.
In 1996 I again had my second house constructed. This time their system was much more defined, quality throughout. I didn’t find myself at the job sight everyday picking apart their construction. I knew their team would do a great job without my constant over viewing. Their warranty was now down to a science with minimal issues.

We want to thank you for your part in our new home and for the many things you did to make the entire process much less stressful and satisfying. We’ve been in our new home since the day after Christmas, and we love it. It has stood the test of two winter snowstorms and weeks of strong, unrelenting winds without a problem of any kind. Now that the humidity and heat of the summer are here, we’re still finding our home to be just what we dreamed of.
From the time we visited one of your model homes to the time we made our final walk-through in our new home, your company’s goal of taking care of your customers and standing behind your product has been more than evident to us. Your sales people bent over backward to answer every question we had, met with us frequently at our convenience, were very patient with our many change orders as we struggled with decisions, and actually became friends to us.
When we signed our papers to build and made our financial arrangements, we never had one problem with our bank not approving any phase of the building. This gave us great reassurance that we’d chosen the right builders. As the building of our home progressed, Wayne and I were constantly checking in to see if things were going as we anticipated. The Construction Manager was very patient and helpful to us so that we understood every part of the building process. He called us or talked to us at least 3-4 times each week and became a trusted friend during the process.
It sounds “corny”, but we’ve made friends with many Hallmark people and are never hesitant to show our home or encourage people to check into building with Hallmark because we know how they’ll be treated! Honesty and integrity are often hard to come by in our world today, but we do feel that Hallmark Homes exemplifies both! Have you ever heard someone angrily complain and say, “I’ll never go through building another home! There are just too many hassles!” Our experience in building two homes with Hallmark in the last 6 years has been that Hallmark really does take the “hassles” out for their customers! The frustrations and inconveniences that other home builders often find in building have not been a part of our own experiences and we are so grateful.
We met the President of Hallmark Homes, Inc. about 6 years ago as we toured a Hallmark model one Sunday afternoon. Not only did we like the model and it’s floor plan, but we also found the President to be very perceptive of our personal building wishes and needs and answered all of our questions thoroughly and politely. As we continued to work with the others in the Hallmark group, we found each one of them sincerely trying to accommodate us in the weeks before the building process began and throughout the entire construction process! Hallmark succeeded in keeping their predicted completion date, with even a few days to spare!
The service we received before, during and after construction was superb, but the greatest asset of Hallmark’s service was their attention to details and their willingness to take care of even the little problems, which were few and far between! The “after the sale” service was very much appreciated by us and we found once again that our slogan for Hallmark was absolutely true. “Hallmark takes the hassles out!” We have found that this “hassle free” atmosphere is just as prevalent in our new home as when we built our first home with them in 1993!

My husband and I built our dream home during the winter of 1996-1997. After looking at many builders, we chose Hallmark Homes to build our home. One thing that was important to my husband was a brick home with little or no upkeep. We had several estimates from builders in our area, but all of them were very expensive. On top of that, they were not even going to finish the house. We were going to paint, stain, carpet and put in cabinets. A friend informed us about Hallmark Homes because she had one. After walking through her house, we decided to make a trip to Anderson. From the first moment of walking into the model home to now, we have not been disappointed. Being greeted by the Sales Consultant as we entered the house, we felt like we were truly valued customers. He was so personable and listened patiently to all of our questions.
From the initial planning stages through construction, we have continued to be pleased. Everyone knew of our living situation and that we were teachers; they knew that we would like to be moved in before school started again in the fall. Our scheduled closing date was not until September 13th, but in four short glorious days, we are moving.
We cannot thank the Sales Consultant and the Construction Manager for all that they have done. We have been respected and valued throughout the process. All of our concerns have been dealt with quickly. If we paged someone, we were certain that we would be contacted. When we decided to build with Hallmark, one of the first things that we were told was that we would probably have some complaints somewhere along the way. That’s just part of building. What we really appreciated was that Hallmark was not portrayed as a company that was error-proof. Even though, all of us building a new home would have loved a stress-free six months with NO complaints. But, let’s get real! Life is not perfect and mistakes can be made everyday. We had some things that we brought to our Field Manager’s attention, and he quickly addressed our concerns and did what he could to accommodate us. It was nice to have the Pre-Construction Manual so that we could follow every step of the building process.
We heard so many horror stories before we built, about how people would be given a price for their future home and that in the end they were surprised to find out that they owed thousands more upon completion. What a shock that would be to anyone. That was a big concern for us initially. After discussing this with the Sales Consultant, she quickly put these concerns to rest. Hallmark never surprised us with any “hidden” additional costs. The total cost that was signed in the beginning, with the exception of any changes that we made, was what our total was in the end.
We are very happy with, and proud of our home! We enjoy showing it off. It’s a great feeling to have people constantly telling us how nice our home looks!

In May 2000, I began looking into building a home. I had heard several opinions from previous homeowners. I went around with an open mind, but found Hallmark to stand out for many reasons. Out of all reasons, three specific ones come to mind: helpful, informative and not “pushy”.
When I asked for advice, they were willing to provide helpful information that matched my needs and wants. I never felt “in the dark” when it came to issues on the house. I was informed every week of what was completed and what would be expected for the upcoming week. Mainly, I chose Hallmark because I never felt pushed into a situation I was not comfortable with or not ready to do.
After each meeting, I was sent home with a copy of all material reviewed. The most impressing and fun thing Hallmark created was a daily guideline of the house construction.
I would do it all over again with Hallmark.

Our first-class experience with Hallmark Homes started with our first request for information. Immediately, we could tell that this builder was different. We received a full size brochure with both pictures and plans that were large enough to actually read. After reviewing the packet and noticing the list of included features, we knew this was a builder we were interested in. Our salesman was very patient in setting up tours of the various plans. We always felt taken care of but never pressured.
There were many options to choose from and we also took them up on their “custom builder” option and made some changes. Again this was no problem, and contracts were patiently rewritten as we were encouraged to take our time and make sure it was the way we wanted it.
During construction, one of our future neighbors commented, “They really hustle,” and another remarked that our home took half the time theirs did, although it was similar in size. Throughout the process we received oral and written updates and took several walkthroughs to detect any problems as soon as possible. Any issues that surfaced were handled quickly, professionally and to our satisfaction.
We recently completed our first Warranty Request Form and had to get extremely picky just to find items to list on it. It is clear that they used quality materials and did good work.
We can sum up the whole experience by simply saying we believe Hallmark to be a company of the highest quality who has not forgotten that the customer comes first.

The people at Hallmark have been a delight to work with. The Construction Manager always goes the second mile to make sure the details are right and that we are satisfied, and after a year in the home, Hallmark sent a team of workers to make small needed repairs – a few even caused by our kids. The workers were very courteous and competent.

It’s been five years since we moved into our house built by Hallmark. Five years later we couldn’t be more pleased with the house and all that it offers. The house has met, and in some cases, exceeded our expectations. Whenever the topic of home construction comes up with folks I smile as they are talking about their “nightmare” during the construction process. They would talk of bickering or almost getting divorced because of disagreements between themselves or with the builder. When they ask me why I’m smiling I tell them that was the least of our problems. Hallmark made it easy with the construction phase. My wife and I knew from the beginning before the first brick was laid what we were getting ourselves into. We knew the cost of the house was going to be the same from start to finish.
The first thing that impressed us about Hallmark was we chose a floor plan and was then told to “start moving walls” where we wanted them. Virtually anything was possible during the planning phase. We were pleased at how many options there were when it came to choosing cabinets, doors, lights, etc. Hallmark made it clear that they would build almost anything. That’s what attracted us to Hallmark.
We had talked to other contractors who just couldn’t provide some of the things we wanted. Hindsight is 20/20 and I’ve heard many people talk of how they would have changed this or that, but there was no doubt or confusion during our construction. Our vision at the beginning of construction was achieved at the end. There’s no doubt that Hallmark will be considered in the future if we decide to add to our home. It would just make sense. My wife’s sister and her husband will probably be the next in the family to build, and they have received information from both Hallmark and a competitor. Hopefully my brother’s experiences will help influence their decision. My brother just thought the other builder was giving him a little more square footage for the dollar, but now is finding out that the reason that he saved a few dollars is because they use subcontractors that are not the caliber that Hallmark uses. I know there are a few that are used by both but I absolutely could not believe some of the lumber their framer used in the construction of their home. The framer of our home has also framed for the other builder. He told us during their construction that they forced him to use bad lumber, but with Hallmark he could throw the really bad stuff in a pile and not use it. There would have been a heck of a big pile at my brother’s house. He didn’t even meet his site superintendent until the house was completely framed, wired, plumbed, and almost ready for drywall.
Our Field Manager kept in touch with us at least every other day and problems were quickly taken care of. We are very satisfied and will be happy to recommend you to anyone who is thinking of building, and if anyone in the Logansport, or surrounding area ever wants to see our home feel free to bring them out.

We recently moved into a Hallmark Home in Bloomington. The project, from beginning to end took nearly three years, with most of the delays coming at the hands of the local bureaucracy. For the first 18 months or so, we worked closely with our Sales Consultant. Rarely have we had a more enjoyable time working with anyone. We met on many occasions to discuss the house plans. He always helped us with sound advice on a thousand critical details. I can honestly say that this house would not exist were it not for his patient guidance and his remarkable ability to make people feel like they are the only client he has. We made a new friend in him, a friend we value highly, and a friendship we hope will last a very long time.
When it was time to “pass the torch” on to our Field Manager, it was with great sadness, but the Sales Consultant assured us that our Field Manager would take good care of us. Boy was he right! He must take at least equal credit for the very existence of our new home. He also worked with us every step of the way, even though he was spread way too thin, and over worked to the point of exhaustion. Through out all of this, he never once complained or mentioned to us how hard he was working the fruits of his labor were plainly visible to anyone who could see. Always friendly, and always sympathetic to our concerns, he never failed to take care of anything we needed or wanted. The number of hours that he put in on this house especially the last two weeks before the close would have killed a lesser individual. We would have loved to have sent him and his family on a cruise for a week or two. He sure deserves it. We would have done the same for our Sales Consultant too. Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and let you know just how pleased we are with Hallmark Homes. I can assure you that we are quite vocal in our praise of your company, and intend to sell as many people as possible on the “Hallmark Experience”.

I have been very pleased with Hallmark Homes right from the start. They made me feel like they actually care about what I wanted for spending so much money. I was always able to get my questions answered in a reasonable amount of time. The Field Manager was always polite and answered questions. They always cleaned up after themselves. After construction was finished if I had any problems I would call the Warranty Department and tell them what the problem was and they would get a crew out and fix it.
I was very impressed when the actual owner of the company comes to my house when it was almost finished and checked everything over. He even got up in the attic and crawled around. He made a list to give to our Field Manager if he saw something that needed work done. How many other owners would do this?
Every time I hear someone talking about building a new home I tell them to look at what Hallmark has to offer. I will always recommend a Hallmark Home. If I ever decide to build again I will be going back to Hallmark!

At the age of 68, we sold our large farm home to our son and family and decided to build our retirement home. We knew we were doing the right thing, but in sharing our excitement with different ones, they were sure we were facing a lot of pitfalls. At the age we were, they seem to say it wasn’t a wise thing to do.
We certainly are glad we ventured on. We looked at many homes, but seeing the workmanship of their homes, we decided Hallmark’s Albany plan would be an ideal home. We were retired, it meant little for us to maintain.
After signing our papers, we really were anxious. The 120 days they gave us for completion was 30 days early. The weather was in our favor and living close by we checked in almost every day. They said they didn’t mind. We enjoyed picking up nails and sweeping.
So many things stand out in our minds how well everything was falling in to place and each week we could see the changes. We were in our new home in 90 days. We have lived here since 1993 and we are still excited about our home.
Other people that had built new homes said we would find plenty to have them come back for. Well, we didn’t, everything has been just what we thought our new house would be and more thanks Hallmark.

When my wife and I had our pre-construction meeting we had a different construction manager and shortly after construction began a new one took over the job, I was concerned at this point of changing managers after construction had began, but over the last 5 months I have really gotten to know him and discovered what a wonderful, caring person he is. I also am a project manager for a railroad contractor and I know that when you deal with customers, customer service is very important; he did everything he could while our house was being built to assure our happiness with Hallmark Homes. I understand that a project like this can never be accomplished without problems but he always did what he could and rectified the problems ASAP. When I wasn’t happy with something that was going on he fixed the problem, he was always patient with me and I’m sure that wasn’t easy because I am a very demanding person and with having a new home I expect perfection and I feel he has done the very best job that could have been done. His service to my family and me was OUTSTANDING, he is an asset to Hallmark Homes and I hope that you realize this. When we asked to add 2 feet to the bonus room and put a finished loft over the front entry, we were amazed that each request was not only handled cheerfully and without hesitation, but in each case, the change orders were completed in a very timely manner, while keeping the rest of the construction process on schedule. There are several other examples, like installing a custom-made, half door underneath the stairs going into the main closet off the main hallway that was overlooked in the original plans, moving the heating ducts in the upstairs bedroom closet so it took up less space.
It’s funny because every time our friends and relatives would ask us “how things were going” and “how do you like your builder?”, they all were surprised that things were always going so well and that we really liked our builder. We have to admit, building a house was one thing that we always told friends and relatives we would never do because we had always heard so many “horror stories” from people who had less than desirable results and experiences and we did NOT want to go through any of that ourselves. Because of Hallmark Homes and your employees we will always have fond memories of our first experience building a house. For as long as we live in this wonderful, beautiful house, we will always be thankful for everyone at Hallmark for making it all possible.

I just wanted to send you a quick note commending our Field Manager.
First, he is very accessible. If he can’t answer my phone call, typically he has called back within 5 minutes. I’ve been around him plenty to know how busy he is.
Second, he has been very understanding and patient with my wife and I, which makes the process painless.
Finally, his involvement and project management has been superb. When I told people I was building a house, they all said “Oh, no! You’ll be divorced before you even finish”. His coordination of the project has been impressive. Rarely was there not a contractor at the site doing something. We have been able to leave all of the headaches in his hands, which lets us sit back and envision the completion of the house.
Don’t mean to take up any of your time, I just wanted to tell you how much easier this process has been with his help.

Back in August we were dealt some pretty difficult blows by our county. We had to start with a new home vision all over again. This was not going to be an easy ordeal or so we thought. However It has been wonderful. That is why we felt the need to write you even before we get started. Our sales consultant stepped in the project and took over to personally make sure this would be a quick and painless operation. He even helped design our house with your CAD department. By the way we love the design. Our field manager stepped in and spent all day with your quality control manager making sure we were covered at our zoning meeting. Well the meeting went horribly but your team never gave up. I know they didn’t get home until very late that night. Your quality control manager said to us “we will see our dream house come true.” She was right. She made sure we had building permits after our new design was done. We want you to know that we realize the long man hours spent trying to deliver this dream. Everyone has gone above and beyond the call of duty. I especially would like to let you know how we consider your quality control manager to be the guardian angel of our home. She is always positive and confident I have spent HOURS!! On the phone with her asking her millions of questions and opinions. When I get off the phone I always have the same opinion. She cares about our house. She makes us feel like family instead of customers.
Your staff is the reason we are building our home with Hallmark. This incredible team has left us feeling confident about our decision picking Hallmark. We know that this home will be built with quality and most of all with care given to every detail. We know nothing about home building but feel confident having the members of your team in the driving seat.

Many people tried to warn us saying “building a new home is frustrating and builders don’t listen”. “This will be a strain on your marriage”. All I have to say Hallmark proved them all wrong. The process was very enjoyable and painless. Of course there were a few glitches like the tile was discontinued, lights discontinued, leak in plumbing. But Hallmark took care of it all and we never felt like we were bullied. I had more trouble getting Sears to install my appliances than getting our new home built by Hallmark.
I trusted the Hallmark staff so much that I had them pick out my master shower tile when my original was discontinued. They made a great choice. We could not have had a better experience.

We checked around to several builders in our area but Hallmark was different. Not only did they have the friendliest staff but they were also very helpful and knowledgeable.
We worked with Hallmark for over a year. My husband and I changed plans after starting the Whitehall. The sales rep that we worked with did not get upset when we brought another idea to the table.
